Blippar set to take over SXSW 2014

SXSW take II

2013 was Blippar’s first year attending SXSW and we’re going back – here are some things we’ll be sure to do this time:

1. Get the apps. I mean the SXSW apps where you can tick off what sounds most interesting and keep track of parties, events you’d like to go to. While you’re at it, download blippar too.

2. Try new things – SXSW is where a lot of new ideas are launched and concepts are tested. Twitter more or less debuted at SXSW as did Foursquare. While you’re at it, talk to new people.

3. Let go of the office - Put on your OOO responder: it’s a mistake to assume you’ll be as productive as you are while in the office, and present for calls etc. Either be present at the conference and get the most out of it, or go home!

4. Sign up for ZipCar - whether it’s picking up colleagues at the airport, getting to that party that’s just a wee bit too far to pedicab to or getting your boss’s birthday cake, it’s a nice luxury to have, especially since taxis during are harder to get than a date with Leo.

5. Shoes- heels are unwelcome.

6. Arrange interviews and meetings beforehand - once you’re there, it’s a bit mayhem. Even though all meetings won’t happen on time or sometimes at all, a premeditated date is much more likely to hold than an arrangement made at 3am at Maggie Mae’s.

7. Expect the unexpected – above aside, don’t plan too much. Plans change, a lot.

8. Recharge - find a great place to charge in 2 or 3 spots. Your phone will almost always be dying. Also, take every free snack and drink on offer.

9. Be a tourist - Take at least 1/3 day to see a part of Austin outside of the convention center and 6thstreet (more on this here if you need help)

10. Sleep – or at least try to.

Look out for the blippable coasters and tattoos....
