Blippar media partner Winnipeg Free Press wins award for best use of AR
Team Blippar proudly congratulates the Winnipeg Free Press, one of our fantastic media partners, for scooping an international award for its terrific use of augmented reality.
The Free Press began utilising Blippar’s tech to make their paper interactive last September.
Collecting the prize for best new mobile service at the 84th Annual International News Media World Congress (INMA) in San Francisco, Free Press editor Paul Samyn said: ‘This award recognizes the value we’ve added to our print product by directly linking it to a world of enhanced content that can be simply accessed via smartphone or tablet.’
Speaking about the future of press, Earl J. Wilkinson, executive director and CEO of INMA, said: ‘The winning entries this year clearly show that this isn’t your father’s newspaper or magazine anymore.
‘The common theme was engagement on new platforms and developing a relationship with consumers across multiple platforms.’
Second and third prizes went to Russmedia Digital in Austria and the Jornal do Commercio in Brazil.
Great job, Free Press!
