Google Glass travel app to take a virtual tour of seaside and book hotel rooms

A new app for Google Glass lets you book hotel rooms through the wearable computer - and even take tours of the local area. Hotel Near Me, the world’s first hotel booking app for Glass, has been created by online travel agency Destinia.com.

A leaked photograph of Amazon’s new smartphone – officially scheduled for release on 18 June – shows a large-screened piece of tech with multiple 3D cameras, ideal for browsing and buying. It claims to be able to track the user’s head movements to create lifelike shopping conditions.

Everyone to the breakfast table! 3D-printed Nutella is now a thing

Nutella, already one of the world’s least boring foodstuffs, just got even more exciting. A new 3D printer attachment called a ‘paste extruder’ enables users to create 3D-printed items using soft materials including silicone, wood filler, icing sugar and… Nutella. Canadian company Structur3D Printing built the attachment using $32,500CND of Kickstarter funding.

Could an augmented reality app on Google Glass cure colour blindness?

University of California research scientist Nadir Weibel, below, will present a paper in September entitled ‘Chroma: A Wearable, Augmented-Reality Solution for Color Blindness’, explaining how a Google Glass app could let people with colour blindness view the world through a range of different filters, and thus appreciate the full colour spectrum.
