Blippar AR Platform Acquires Binocular To Dive Into The Virtual Try-On

"Blippar, the ad platform that delivers AR content through real-world tags, has today announced the acquisition of Binocular.

Binocular is an Austin, TX-based company that creates augmented reality applications for brands, with a specialty in the virtual try-on. The company created the Glasses.com app for Luxotica, which manufactures 75 percent of the world’s sunglasses, letting users try on glasses using a smartphone app with very realistic rendering.

The app won the Cannes Lions Bronze award in 2014 for best use of technology." Read More

The AR company has now launched a new virtual reality (VR) app Cardio VR, designed for children.

Cardio VR is the first project launched by Blippar Lab, the company’s new innovation and R&D unit. The app has been designed for use with the Google Cardboard or similar head-mounted display (HMD). Cardio VR creates a fun, kid-friendly VR experience by enabling users to enter an animated cartoon doctor’s office and follow along with the experience to identify patients’ ailments and remedy their conditions. Innovative game-play functionality offers users a user friendly way to interact with VR , enabling players to control game action exclusively through a user’s head movements, fully immersing them in the colourful, animated world."
