Sharing Insights on Visual Storytelling with Students at Hyper Island
Here at Blippar, we're very interested in visual storytelling. Consumers are more likely to engage with products and services if they're not just hearing or reading about them, but seeing them come to life before their eyes.
We recently had the opportunity to travel to Manchester, U.K., to meet and share our ideas with students similarly concerned with visual storytelling. The students are enrolled in the Digital Media Management program at Hyper Island, a unique learning environment tailored for the digital world.
To help understand the future of data, we shared how augmented reality allows businesses to tell better stories. Blippar Data Scientist Andrew Chan spoke to the students about how we use Big Data.
"The basic idea behind Big Data is that everything we do is increasingly leaving a digital trace (or data), which we (and others) can use and analyse," said Andrew. "It helps make our storytelling on point, and valuable."
The students participated in a workshop using Blippbuilder to create their own data visualization with augmented reality. The standout blipp was a 3D globe showcasing the hometowns of the Hyper Island students, which you can see in the video below, or by visiting this link.
