Just Launched: WebAR SDK With Enhanced Marker Tracking

Using our WebAR SDK tools, with the addition of marker tracking, you can now experiment with and further develop the gateway into your AR experiences.

At Blippar, we are continuously innovating and evolving our toolkits to keep you on the cutting-edge of AR technology. It’s part of our ongoing commitment to making sure that creatives can focus on what they do best – creating – and have the strongest, most flexible toolset to make these visions an augmented reality

Our recently launched WebAR SDK toolkit has been purpose-built to provide the most powerful elements needed to build immersive, full 3D experiences, and to maximise creativity, with image tracking capabilities incorporated across the build experience.

Image tracking enables the AR experiences created in our WebAR SDK to be launched simply by scanning an image with a mobile device camera. Triggers can include specific images or a QR code, and this feature can be used to add multiple scannable images to a single AR experience for users to bring to life. Multiple touchpoint image tracking within AR experiences usually require a dedicated app to be downloaded, but our WebAR SDK makes this feature available to open on any mobile browser – no app required. For maximum interoperability, experiences can also be accessed and shared through a range of platforms including Facebook, WhatsApp, WeChat, and TikTok.

By integrating image tracking, we’ve boosted our WebAR SDK’s already considerable creative power. When we launched the toolkit back in October, it already featured our most advanced implementation of simultaneous location and mapping (SLAM) technology, which anchors AR objects firmly within an experience, regardless of camera movement. Image tracking is now stacked on top of WebAR SDK’s advanced SLAM technology, which boasts 99% accuracy on tracking when locked, with less than a 1% margin of error in angular accuracy. What this means in practice is that users can build richer, more immersive experiences that viewers can fully engage with, immersing themselves, as the lines between physical and digital realities begin to blur.
