Formula One and Blippar: Allies in innovation, agility and beauty

Within the set of 12 presentation slides Blippar’s founding team has, since 2011, used to secure funding, one slide emerges shinier, brighter and louder than the rest: the one featuring a photograph of a Formula One racing car.

This slide did not find its way into Blippar’s investor deck by accident; Formula One has a long and intricately weaved history with Blippar… and not only because our CEO Rish Mitra is an avid spectator and participant of racing.

‘Blippar and the Formula One sport are comparable in so very many ways,’ says Rish on the eve of the 2014 Formula One Santander British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

(This event is a mammoth one on the Blippar calendar for two reasons. Firstly, as F1 sponsors, Blippar’s logo will appear on the side of the racing cars. And secondly, Blippar today launches the latest F1 blipp: an extraordinary gaming and content extravaganza unlocked by blipping the autograph card of British driver Max Chilton. Trust us: it’ll give you goose bumps.)

‘When it comes to Blippar and F1, our core attributes and values are the same,’ continues Rish. ‘We’re both fast-moving, aerodynamic, extraordinarily complicated within but seamless from the outside, and constantly under development: an F1 car undergoes 3,000 part changes per calendar year, while the core Blippar platform is updated and improved some 2,500 times during the same period.

‘We share the same philosophy - that innovation plus agility equals beauty – and our motto is indistinguishable: every millisecond counts.’

Both Blippar and Formula One are in the business of building something fast and beautiful that offers the ultimate user experience. And both Blippar and Formula One are aware that for this to happen there needs to be complete harmony within both the team and the product.

‘A car cannot work if it is just a fast engine, just some strong tyres, or just a talented driver: it needs all of these components working together at their optimum levels,’ says Rish. ‘And here at Blippar it’s the same.’

‘Neither Blippar nor Formula One is a solo sport: we are both teams and our successes are down to the sum of our parts.’

Enjoy our Formula One blipp. Enjoy the Grand Prix. And good luck, Max!
