What does community mean to you? Join Blippar's education initiative!

A fortnight ago we asked ‘What does community mean to you?’ and challenged you to answer creatively in the form of blipps: interactive, augmented reality mobile experiences built on our DIY platform Blippbuilder.

We want you - whoever you may be - to represent the wonderful communities of which you are part, showcasing your environments, networks, missions, creativity and hidden talents through art, multimedia and augmented reality. We’re hunting for inventive, creative, innovative definitions of community played out in whatever means you choose - from performance arts to grassroots community initiatives.

The idea is that a wide range of people - from all sorts of countries, communities, backgrounds and cultures - use our powerful technology (totally free of charge!) to create a diverse platform of voices showcasing the multitude of vibrant communities out there.

It’s still early stages, but we’ve already had an inspiring mix of responses, from recycling initiatives, public art projects, community radio shows, charities, artists, students and educators. A massive thanks to everyone who has already taken on the challenge - we've been really impressed with what we've seen so far.

We thought we’d share our favourite blipp of the week, built for a mural created by artist Pixel Pancho in Abbott Street car park in Dalston, east London. The project was part of the Colour The Capital initiative, a wonderful project seeking to brighten community spaces via street art using recycled paint. The initiative was launched by Global Street Art and Forest Recycling Project.

To learn more about the project, download and open the free Blippar app on your mobile phone or tablet and blipp the image below. Enjoy!
