We've moved! Blippar London swaps Holborn for London Bridge
Holborn, London. It’s where the Blippar story began (if you don’t count the Surrey pub in which Rish and Omar first floated the idea of an augmented future). We set up shop on High Holborn in 2011, just the four co-founders – Ambarish Mitra, Omar Tayeb, Steve Spencer and Jessica Butcher - sitting in front of their computers, discussing what their first step should be.
Gradually, as more and more clients and investors cottoned on to the fact that we had a seriously interesting idea on our hands, more people were welcomed into the Blippar fold, and just a year later we packed up our belongings and moved to a roomier home a few buildings down the same road.
And guess what? It’s only gone and happened again.
With the launch of our visual browser and a phenomenal $45m funding leg-up, we’re recruiting some truly fantastic new talent to help us achieve our ambitions, and our London HQ has once again been outgrown. We were, frankly, climbing the walls.
So welcome to our new digs! And they’re beautiful.
Our new control room is high up on the fifth floor at 1 London Bridge, that glossy, glassy, waterfront building that looks like it’s had a bite taken out of its middle by an enormous, square-jawed dinosaur.
It’s brighter, lighter and roomier than ever, has lovely orange floors (nice work, Team Branding), more meeting rooms than we can count, and it will enable the Blippar family to grow as big as it needs in order for us to reach our goal of making the whole world blippable as quickly as possible.
And while we wait for that to happen, you’ll most likely find us all eating ostrich burgers in Borough Market, keeping ourselves awake long into the night on Monmouth coffee, sampling stinky cheese at Neal’s Yard Dairy during our lunch breaks, and then relaxing after work in one of Bermondsey Street’s lovely, sunny beer gardens…
Come and say hello. We promise great chat, strong coffee and exquisite views across the river. (We might even get a bit of work done, too....)
