Strengthening our presence in APAC with a new Singapore hub

Blippar’s belief in the transformative power of augmented reality and computer vision has been accelerated by a new hub in Singapore. As the thriving centre for Asian tech, and the regional hub for many of Blippar’s clients, it’s a natural location to further strengthen our regional presence.

The new office located at the heart of the thriving Central Business District in Singapore, enables the expansion of Blippar’s AR and computer vision capabilities and allows the team to continue to be innovators in the field.

Since our Singapore launch in 2015, Blippar has forged strong partnerships with leading brands and agencies in the region - including Unilever, GSK, P&G, PepsiCo, Ogilvy, Mindshare, and many more. The Blippar team has also been working very closely with key Singapore government bodies and agencies, launching campaigns such as i Light Marina Bay (in partnership with Urban Redevelopment Authority) and Singapore Zoo (in partnership with the Mandai Park Holdings). Both of these initiatives truly grasp the environmentally friendly and technologically minded spirit of the city.

The potential for mobile-led AR is huge in the APAC region. The large number of tech-savvy Gen Y and Gen Z consumers are predominantly mobile-first in their approach; Asia also has some of the most sophisticated markets in terms of smartphone usage and behaviour - such as Japan, Korea, China, the Philippines and Singapore). Combined with the rapid growth in mobile ad spending and the region’s growing awareness of the benefits that augmented reality technology can bring, makes it a very exciting time to expand our presence in this market.

The team is now focused on scaling the Blippar business more widely across the region, including Australia as well as working closely with our Indian operations. We are also hiring digital brand partners and strategists who can steward our clients through the complex medium of AR and computer vision, creating new innovative use-cases.
